Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone has any experience of raising funds or obtaining a grant for a school climbing wall that could also be opened up to the public.

The school I teach at is interested in creating an indoor wall. With the idea o fusing it for our pupils during the day and opening it up to memebers of the community at night and weekends/holidays.

I have looked into possible options but would appreciate any advice, especially from anyone who has obtained a government grant or similar funding before.

Yes!

depending on where you are sportscotland or sportengland are good places to start, for which you'll need support from BMC/MCofS that your facility is going to contribute to climbing in general. You'll struggle more if you have a very good wall nearby already.

My main piece of advice would be to sort out the idea before you start chasing money- money should be the last piece of the puzzle or you will not get it from a government or lottery grant scheme.
