Shovelling our way onto the glacier, 3 kbWhen a Himalayan Expedition goes wrong... Here Bradley Morrell recounts his trip to Nepal which resulted in frostbite and an epic multi-day retreat down a canyon. All that without ever setting foot on the route proper!

That night, as it eventually got dark, we spent tied to a tree on the steep slope with no access to water and therefore no dinner. It was on this night I turned around and said to Alek, "When I said that I wanted an expedition that made the last one look tame, this is not what I had in mind."

It is impressive that even though this area is seriously remote, it has 2 airports within spitting distance of each other (well, OK, 15 miles, give or take).

Yes it was a good trip, just lacking in the climbing a little. So I'm hoping to go away do a bit more personal climbing and then look at organising the next expedition. Interestingly I'm out in the UAE atm and the terrain in the mountains is as loose as we found over on the expedition, certainly adventure climbing
