I like this article, I think it describes the 'cultural-whatsists' connected with Top Gear very well.

thanks for sharing. its an interesting read, I don't agree with all of it, but its certainly well thought out and makes some good points!

In reply to Timmd:

I think that hits the nail on the head....sadly, it seems that the nail ignored it completely as this was written several years ago

This made me laugh though:
"some of the funniest and most innovative people in British comedy. And Rob Brydon too."

Very 'The Trip'....though maybe unintentionally?

In reply to Kimono:

Absolutely intentionally, I'd say.

Absolutely! Pushed the boundaries of reality tv whilst satirising it at the same time

How in the name of all that's holy could anyone read that and not immediately understand it was an intentional and mildly amusing joke at the expense of one of his friends?

Spot on, Steve, but why did it take you three appearances on the show to realise that you were collaborating with a set of people whose values were so much removed from yours?

Because Coogan thought that the 'Mexican' incident was taking things too far and he felt humorous comments made on previous episodes were on the correct side of his moral compass?

I love how everyone seems to be trying to blame someone other than JC.
If its not the BBc's fault then now its Steve Coogan's

I what way does that blame Coogan, rather than Clarkson.
