Satnav, Google Earth and Finding your way in a strange place

Next month we are going to Soller in Majorca. I'm hiring a car at the airport and have been checking the route to the hotel.

The satnav has come up with an option but closer examination suggest that it is taking me the wrong way down some one way streets in Soller. I've looked on Streetview which has confirmed my suspicions.

I am now trying to work out a route, seemingly with some success - I can see one way street signs etc., on Google Earth/Streetview.

Should I ditch the satnav?

How do you know streetview is more accurate than your satnav?

I don't. It's just that when I looked at the satnav route in streetview it was going the wrong way down one way streets

Lots of old, shit satnavs do this - they assume all roads are two-way and not restricted, for example by being a bus lane. Use the Google Maps directions feature, it's much more accurate and up-to-date, gives multiple route options, etc.

Will you not need to be connected to the internet to use GE.

Satnavs will work at no extra cost!

When you re pulled over just shrug your shoulders and talk in English.

Good Luck

I assume that you have an iPad, Tablet or phone?

Use google maps.

Download offline maps
Make sure you're connected to the Internet, then open the Google Maps app .
Sign in to your Google Account.
Search for a place, like "San Francisco." Pinch and zoom to select the area that you want to save.
To save the selected area of the map, touch the menu > Make available offline.

Have you updated your satnav recently?

Soller is about half the size of glossop so you could probably wing it and not go too far wrong

Once you get to Soller, most of the hotels are signposted.

Our sat nav didn't take us down any one way streets when I was there.
