BBC iPlayer help

My iPlayer app (installed on iPod) won't play downloaded programmes when offline...which I thought was the whole idea?! I can't find anything obvious in the iPlayer help, and they're all "in date"...what am I missing?

Are you trying to play them by tapping on them in the normal home screen, or are you going into your downloads folder in the app?
