My laptop has finally packed in after being reballed. I need a replacement pretty sharpish.

I've got £300 absolute max to spend. Ideally less if possible.
Mainly for browsing and photo editing (adobe lightroom) and the odd document drafting. Not doing any gaming.

Ideally needs a DVD drive, SD reader, at least 14in screen. Not too fussed about OS but would prefer Windows7.

LaptopsDirect have always done me proud, though other suppliers are available. I have an Acer which is a bit plastic but has worked fine for 2+ years to date.

Google for amazon warehouse deals and then search for laptop there (can't find the deals easily from the main site). Once you find one you like the price of, check the CPU against a benchmark on passmarkcpu website (use the searchable list page https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php ) - to make sure you're not getting a dog!

You should be able to get a laptop with at least 4GB Ram, large enough Hard Drive and a CPU with a benchmark test of over 2500 for £300 I expect.

Have bought workstations and laptops from microdream and can’t fault them.

Go to Tesco or similar and buy one there, you're right down the bottom of the market at that price so can't be picky.

I've been watching this thread hoping for some guidance myself. Out of interest, what would be ideal (not bare minimum) system requirements to comfortably run photoshop and lighthtoom (eg, Intel i3, 8g ram, HD screen)?
