One of the iconic sports commentators voices I grew up hearing. As masterful in his delivery on air as he apparently was with the ball in his hand, though I'm too young to have seen that.

How time flies, from my point of view, he was a lovely man and a proper legend rip x

RIP. One of the joys of being a student for nearly a decade was being able to follow test matches so closely - with the mellifluous accompaniment of Richie.

RIP Richie! Oh the heady days of summer holidays in my youth, when his iconic greeting heralded a day lying on the living room floor watching Test Cricket on the Beeb or C4.

I like this quote from the BBC news item:

"And Glenn McGrath dismissed for two, just ninety-eight runs short of his century"

In reply to Bob:

Great quote, hadn't heard that one before, thanks.

As a youngster, much to my mum's annoyance, I spent too many glorious summers' days indoors watching assorted test matches and hearing his voice. He'll be sadly missed, RIP.
