My understanding is that the clients had used these services before and everyone had a good relationship.

It may well be that there is more to this story than meets the eye.

A long time ago (1991), I went to climb in the Annapurna sanctuary. We picked up porters off the street in Kathmandu (a no-no), paid them in advance (double no-no), gave them all our kit and arranged to rendevous on a certain day.

It all worked out fine.

Most people are good-hearted.

Be wary with that link - Norton reports this:

I have just returned from a trip with Tshering and have known him for many years and the story surprises me. However Chandana, the Indian girl, was on the trek to Mera Peak with me, using it as an acclimatisation trip before attempting Everest in April/May with Tshering and she has confirmed that he has disappeared, but I still think there is more to this than the Himalayan Times is reporting. I would like to hear Tshering side of the story before passing judgement.
