It's a bit sad that St George's Day gets more-or-less ignored. Why can't it be used a global marketing opportunity by a multinational beverage conglomerate like St Patrick's day is?

Yes he was - a Cumbrian!

St George was Greek and born in Syria.

Maybe, maybe not: Lydda or Cappodocia most possibly but it's not clearly known.
