Mina Leslie-Wujastyk has made the second female ascent of Austrian Oak 8b at Malham Cove. First climbed by John Dunne in 1988, Austrian Oak is a short and bouldery route described as "A hard and well-travelled line on side-pulls and undercuts."
Good work Mina.
I had a couple of sessions on it back in the day and thought it was much harder than the other 8bs I was doing at the time. Maybe it didn't suit me as well but I suspect more to the point was that it was just harder!
I suspect this is one for the mindless thugs amongst us. Certainly it was always viewed as one of the easier 8bs around when I did it, but it is quite reachy and very powerful!
