So I think I have injured an A2 pulley. Should I be instantly seeking medical advice from a doctor or see how it goes over next few days? And tips and advice for a quick recovery?

Apply some common sense - if you can move your finger, no need to bother your GP; if there's no mobility - proceed to A&E.

You can still move your finger even with a completely ruptured A2 pulley. Look up 'bowstringing', If you have got it then you have a ruptured pulley and need some repair work. If not, then it may heal well without intervention. The best way for a quick recovery is to not re-injure it by using it too soon. Give it time to heal (no pulling for a few weeks) followed by a very gradual progression back to normal use. Connective tissue takes several months to heal fully as it has a limited blood and nutrient supply. Look up hot and cold bathing therapy too as this helps. In fact, look at Dave Macleod's climbing coach blog as there are many good articles about pulley injury on there.
