The women's event definitely felt a bit flat. Shauna looked somewhat cautious, presumably because of that finger injury, leaving only Akiyo of the usual top 5. Is it even possible for anyone to beat her now for the overall title? Still a great effort by Petra Klinger to take the win though.
Men's was interesting. It makes me think onsight bouldering comps must have the most random selection of winners at each event of any sport perhaps. So hard to be consistent when what you're doing is different every time and a lot of luck involved as to whether the small selection of problems will fit your style, or whether you'll read them correctly. No slabs in this particular event for both men and women.
No semis this time but thankfully the finals were recorded with decent quality. And I thought the commentary by both Leah and Josh was good too. Maybe not as (over) excitable as the pro commentators but at least they know what they're talking about, both were really eloquent, and no screaming down the microphone.
Seems like a long wait now for the final event in Munich in mid August.
