I'm heading to zacopane in a couple of weeks, spending 5 or so days here as part of a longer trip. Trying to decide if I should bring my gear, anyone have any experience of the quality/type/quantity of the climbing around here and does anyone happen to be around there at the moment you fancies a couple of days of climbing?

Just got back from Zakopane, but was only doing walking. Found this though which might help: http://topo.uka.pl/content/english/morskie_oko/morskie_oko_e.php

It's a good spot for mountain climbing. There is a campsite high in mountains around Morskie Oko lake known as Tabor. If You will find someone to team up for a couple of routes I would definitely recommend trying to climb on something like Grand Capucin of Morskie Oko which is known as "Mnich" - monk. Easy approach, marvellous granite and superb routes both sport and trad. Quite an old topo http://wspinanie.pl/topo/polska/tatry/mnich/e.htm. You could buy a new poster-guide in Zakopane mountain shops. There is couple of easier and also nice places for one day round trip like: Zamar³a Turnia (120-150m), Zachodnia ¦ciana Ko¶cielca (120-150m). If You are very much into Mountain stuff there is plenty to do but You need to dig into details.

Definitely worth trying Mnich with it's best routes. The whole spectrum of grades from easy slabs to hardcore state-of-the-art modern bolted routes.

Enjoy
