The fifth horeseman castle naze
Hi guys
Lead my first HVS today at castle naze which was the fifth horseman. Is it only me that feels as if the route line in the guide book should be a little further left? As i approached the crux there was no gear at all so I actually used a sling on the chock which is actually on the vdiff. Saying that i did stay on the face at all times but It felt like E2 territory ( The ice breaker)
What are your opinions? Did i cheat for using the chock stone haha???

I thought it was bold for HVS as a direct line through the headwall/ blunt arete if i remember rightly. You would deck out from the ~5a crux without a very very good belayer.

I can't remember the route at all but I've got this and icebreaker ticked on the same day. It seems as though they're barely independent of each other.

Is there any gear past the cam?? Or is it just a moment of bravery on the crux?
