Creating pop-art?

Yes I know that pop-art is so 1950's. However I want to create a pop-art montage of my pooch as a Christmas present for Little Miss Lemming to hang on the wall.

Any ideas how I could do this using Lightroom 5, or Photoshop CS2 or something else?

Cheers

Google for pop art action photoshop. There'll be loads of them out there. Do a virus check on whatever you donwload, install one or two, let them do their stuff and and see if it's pleasing

To achieve the pointilism effect (comic book style) seen in pop art (ie Litchenstein) try using the colour halftone filter in Photoshop. I'm currently illustrating a warthog for a client using Illustrator to create a flat cartoon and then importing it into Photoshop to add texture and filters. It's bloody difficult. If all else fails, try fiverr.com, artists from all over the globe will custom design you what you need for only 5 dollars . Hope this helps!

Pop Art is a broad definition.

Link to an image you like (I assume there are some you or Mrs L like for you to want to do this?) and someone will probably be able to tell you how to make a similar piece using images of your dog.

There's a few apps that'll do most of the hard work for you. Google 'Create your own Roy Lichtenstein' or similar.

Are there any rules that I need to follow so that I get a punchy piece or art, rather than some amature playing with some random colours?

Here's my first ever attempt at Pop Art.

All comments, good, bad or indifferent will be gratefully appreciated.

Ba dumm, tish.

Any how, here is my second attempt?

How could I improve on this, as in have I got the colour scheme wrong?

I'm hoping this will make a good cushion or big poster.

Bang on, looks really good. I wouldn't do anything more to it, spot on.

Messed with the colours for a 2.0 version.

I'm glad you like my project.

I like that - care to tell us how you did it?
I have a daughter and a dog and Christmas is coming ...

I'm glad that you liked my first ever stab at Pop Art. It never really floated my boat back when I was at art college. And if truth be told, I neither had the talent or technical ability to pull it off.

However with the advent of Photoshop and digital cameras, I am an Artist!

I followed a tutorial found from Mr Google.

Rather than making things complicated with multiple coloured facets, I chose a simple shot of my dog, removed the background and selected two contrasting colours for each quarter of the image.

I used Photoshop CS2. It's over 10 years old and got onto the internet some time ago. Adobe are aware of this and turn a blind eye to its existence so you won't get your hands slapped for downloading it.

I don't use photo hosting sites and let's say I'm not quite there yet, I've got the gist of it but have a bit more tinkering to do. It's the first time I've used layers so I'm finally getting some value out of my Photoshop Elements software which has only ever resized and touched up photos previously.
