In case anyone was thinking of heading to SCNL tomorrow, conditions were surprisingly poor today. All rock right of Broad Gully was black - nothing had hoared overnight. Scabbard Chimney and Spectre were almost justifiable but not quite, and we did the main section of Innuendo before running out of whiteness. Pretty much every other party in the coire was on Dorsal Arete. Turf was frozen where not too buried but there was a fair bit of loose rock around. Probably better to go elsewhere...
its not all that surprising, it pissed it down at all levels wed night an most of thurs, stripping nearly all of last weekends snow and saturating everything. a day and a bit of cold this time of year is hardly going to work miracles
I guess it depends where you go - the conditions were pretty good on The Ben. Early season conditions failures are always good for getting some hill fitness back in the legs.
