Hi all
Had an enjoyable day on the w face of aonach mor yesterday - but not totally sure what route we did. We started up a broad ridge about 50m right of golden oldie and immediately right of a gully with some steepish ice in it. About 150m above the start there was a c.20m cracked turfy slab with an in insitu peg about half way up. We finished right by the summit cairn. Did we do western rib or daim Buttress??

One of the local aficionados would be best to advise but it sounds like Daim buttress although I was off route on the slab and didn't notice a peg.

Western rib becomes very well defined and narrow and also has a fun little chimney to squeeze through (unless I was off route there as well!)

Hi mike, thanks for replying - we were expecting a narrow section but there wasn't one - maybe daim buttress then - good route whatever it was!

Sounds just like Daim Buttress to me - it's a good route

Thanks for replying - yeah think we're fairly convinced it was daim buttress now - will need to go back for western rib!
cheers
