NSAIDS for skin care?

I was listening to a training beta podcast ( excellent program by the way) with Steve Bechtal. He briefly mentioned using nsaids for skin care. My tips are getting worn out just on the climbing wall and I haven't even got on the grit yet!
Has anyone heard of this? Is it NSAID gel ( eg voltarol or ibuprofen ) applied directly to the skin ?
Thanks for your thoughts

I've heard about people using it to reduce acne swelling but never for anything related to climbing.

Interesting but I don't see why an anti inflammatory would help repair worn skin. They seem like two different things.

I used ibuprofen gel some years ago for an elbow problem. I don't think it had any effect.

I can highly recommend sudocream. I suspect NSAIDs would sting on grit-worn skin.
