Ravenswick Quarry

Hi,

I went up to ravenswick quarry on Wednesday evening, and noticed severe rock damage on the white and black walls. Looks pretty fresh. Gutted tbh. Really like the place. Not sure if anything can be done? Si

Carp. What kind of damage?

In reply to Franco Cookson:

They've chipped off large sections of the hard surface on the white wall leaving the soft friable stuff underneath exposed. They've also chipped off small individual nobs from the black wall. I've added a photo to the ravenswick gallery. Si

I don't think the photo is up yet? That's very strange. Local youths? Disgruntled local?

Dunno, there used to be a few fossils, so fossil collectors?

Saw this about a month ago (very wet at the time so we didn't end up climbing), it looked like someone had been throwing rocks at the wall, didn't notice it on the Black Wall section as well though. Out of interest how dry is the place at the moment?

From memory, if that is the bottom of the White Wall crack in your photo, then it Looks like someone has decided to chisel off the dolomite/calcite crystals.
Bell. Ends.
