Not mine, but the offspring's: and clearly cracking the screen on his tablet is one of the most tragic things that has happened in his life, quite possibly anyone's life. EVER!

So seeing his very sad face still this morning, the day after the accident, in good-parent-mode we cycled to a phone repair shop that could do it, but the chap quoted us 55 quid. Having seen you can buy a new screen and necessary tools from Amazon for about a tenner, my face obviously looked moderately shocked at that price. So the phone repair chap said "OK, I can do it for 50" but I have no idea whether that's a perfectly fair price to charge or the fact that he dropped 10% off his price so quickly meant he saw us coming in the first place!

There are Youtube tutorials and instructions available online on replacing a screen yourself, and random internet pages say it is not that difficult a job but I wondered if anyone here had tried and had either words of encouragement or of warning?

Thanks all.
