Have got some long lost foreign friends coming for a weeks holiday. Not much happening so thought I'd go meet them.

Station was closed. A person had thrown themselves under the Stansted Express making a rather large mess although the emergency services where still working on them.

Funny old world isn't it.

For some of us that used to act as the RIO in these sort of incidents (specifically thinking of Ladbroke Grove) it wasn't always funny - although black humour helped.

Pity the poor driver; apply the brakes, sound the horn and close your eyes. Not necessarily in that order.........

Black humour is a wonderful tool in desperate situations.

Always the hardest thing to persuade drivers to do, but always the thing they wished they had done.

Summary, long term sunshine helps improve mood and lower suicide risk, short term sunshine can sadly increase risk because of increased motivation before starting to feel better.

Take care everyone.

You do wonder if they could perhaps fit something to the front if trains to minimise death or injury.

A 'scoop' or an airbag device operated by the driver that realises he/she will not be able to stop in time .

Yes, it was strange walking to the station seeing so many people in shorts and summer clothes, eating ice creams and smiling etc and then being told the station was shut as somebody was under a train (suicide attempt).

I wonder what drove them to do it?
