Abandonded rope on Pallid Slabs? Gimmer

I was up at Gimmer yesterday and as I was descending I noticed an abandoned rope on the Pallid Slabs area (up off to the left anyway). Now I have an inkling this was lost last year. Am I right in thinking that not to go up there and retrieve it in such a long period is a bit off. Or is my ethical compass out of kilter.
