Very hungry caterpillars

I was alerted to this and went to have a look this evening - an enormous web woven by caterpillars, by the car park of Wickes in Stirling:

There was a number of impressive 'outbreaks' of what I guess was the same caterpillar in some places in southern England a several years ago. Can't remember th name of the caterpillar/moth responsible but it too was quite amazing.
