Do you log routes that you've downclimbed in logbook?
Is it harder to climb or downclimb and if you've downclimbed a route, how much easier is it to reclimb once you've downclimbed, and what route would you like to never downclimb. Slabs? Around severe 4a

Let me guess, you log your downclimb descents at stanage as onsight!

I do tend to log routes that I abseil down, especially if they're quite tricky ie. free-hanging or a long way. I only really abseil these days anyway.

There's no option of 'abseil' or 'top-down' so I just log it as an 'on-sight' as long as I didn't check it out from the ground beforehand.

It's worth logging them as my logbook wouldn't look very impressive otherwise.

I also log very steep routes that I've had a good look at from below. Some of them are very steep you know, and you can hurt your neck if you look upwards for too long.

I'm a little confused how to log the E4 ab I did at Stanage this weekend?

It was pretty desperate plus my rope was wet and I was using a Grigri.

Any info much appreciated.

Does a prusik count as aid?

How about Rectal Points instead?

It's simple arithmetic really.

If you down climb a route that you have done before then you have to take it out of your logbook. If you down climb something you haven't led yet then you have to do it twice before you can claim the tick, but on the plus side the second ascent is an onsight.
