Interesting but internally contradictory. A very interesting character who appears to have been better recognised by his contemporaries than the author allows but then neglected by climbing history.

So far so good but guess the author is not a mountaineer as a couple of glaringly obvious errors (desceding to Breiul but stopping at Hornli hut !) but other than that really enjoying it.
Also I do beleive that Belmore Brown (on Denali) was the 'inventor' of Eiderdown clothing !
