Rectory Chimneys (VD) gets 2 stars in the rockfax, but on UKC it gets none, why is that?

'A great Vdiff and well worth seeking out.'

Different opinions?

In the latest Langdale guide they were deliberately more generous when awarding stars to spread traffic across more routes. It could be the same for your guide book.

Because it's subjective?

Is it because on UKC the stars are derived from the users' votes and in guidebooks they're decided by the guidebook writers?

edit: Actually just noticed there are 3 ratings: the guidebook, the UKC listing, and the voting. I think they may all be derived in a different way?

Yes, the crag moderator sets the stars on the logbook, the logbook users can vote, but that doesn't affect the listed stars, only the voted stars.

It probably gets no start in the definitive guide, which was always supposed to be the source for such things (this has changed recently with Rockfax being used as the source for grades).
I haven't checked though, so it may not be that.
