Looking at early August and being down that way, and having lost five stone of illness-induced flab, I'm keen to try some new rock.
I was pushing E1 at my fat end, any suggestions on which parts are clean and worth exploring? Northumberland sandstone is my usual, but two weeks away with my brother nearby means I'll get more than my once-a-month while I'm there!

In reply to Tree:

If you're comfortable at HVS then there's plenty at Swanage, but be warned the top outs can be very unsettling, Boulder Ruckle is good, but maybe get a feel for the climbing somewhere less intimidating like Cattle Troughs (as long as the sea is calm) alternatively Cormorant Ledge and Guillemot Ledge are good and there are some routes with solid top outs.

Just about the only climbable things that aren't bolted on Portland are the staircases in the blocks of flats, if sport climbing is your thing go there.
