Has anyone managed to navigate the minefield of buying property abroad?
20 odd years ago it was all about Andalucia that I saw, property was disgustingly cheap and everything was pretty transparent and free from all these new stealth taxes the Spanish government has started hitting new investors with. So interest dropped off, people weren't taking the risk after some nightmare high profile cases. It looks like interest is picking up again, but now it's not really an investors market, prices are never going to be as low as they were and so not really ideal if looking to just make profit.
Then about 10-15 year ago it looked like Bulgaria was going to be the next Costa del profit, but things don't seem to have changed there, in between areas of interest it still looks like a run down war zone, prices have stayed the same and so interest has faded there as well.
So has anyone found a region that may be the next good thing, I'd be interested in hearing your experience.
