Some of these stories are getting lost in the new wave of guidebooks.

Pregnant Pause - the last route JimR did before birth of his third child. He paid Pete to bolt it for him.

Liquid Ambar - 'cos Jerry can't spell

Janus - God of doors; when Johnny's ego was running a little hot

Kipling Groove, because Arthur Dolphin existed solely on a diet of Almond Slices.

I'd go with 'Dawes of Perception' for that!
In reply to JJL:

I thought the whole point about Janus was that he was two-faced i.e. looked both forward and back (thus January).

Isn't that the correct spelling for a type of tree (albeit it should be one word)? I think jerry named the climb as a tribute to his brother who was a botanist / arboriculture type.

It's probably exceedingly obvious to almost everyone, but there's a second word inside of the first, and I wonder if there's a reason why.
In reply to JJL:

Dinosaur (E5 6a) was so called on the grounds that you needed a small brain and a long neck to try it.

Hmm. Jerry could, guide book writers couldn't!

Last Day in Purgatory. AFAIK, named by Con Higgins the day before he emigrated to Canada.

Of course there's a reason why. It was 1994, everyone, including top climbers were off their heads on MDMA aka ecstasy

Yes, one word - Liquidambar. And yes, named in honour of his brother. It appeared in the new routes sections of the mags as 2 words at the time.

A friend and I called a climb of ours Impact after the (rockfall) impact crater left at the second belay stance.... a close call that one.

And the grade of E7 7a not for the climbing, but because the grooves look like two sevens...

White Slab, Cloggy, named because it climbs a huge white slab.

The White Hotel - Huntsman's Leap. "Pat succumbs to chalk." Quote from Pembroke guidebook.

Actually, most of Johnny's route names are brilliant. Like the guy.
