Those with an interest in the ethics of mountaineering and the medical facts behind drug use may find these two UIAA Medical Committee papers interesting.

Primarily for the layman: http://www.theuiaa.org/medical_advice.html Paper 22a

or in more technical terms geared for medical professionals Paper 22b: http://online.liebertpub.com/doi/pdfplus/10.1089/ham.2016.0080

As referenced in the paper under Mortimer & Rosen 2014 "Valley Uprising" and partly explains why the UIAA has taken the ethical stance that has been adopted after much thought and discussion
