I'm after a simple VPN for use on my android phone. Only need it for un-geoblocking (specifically I need a UK IP), not security, but don't want anything that's going to be a security threat in itself.
Are there any free VPNs that could be reccomended for such a thing? All I'm finding is expensive pay per month with loads of extra features or ad filled junk that doesn't work. Not being helped by the steaming pile of crap that is the play store.

Last time I needed one for PC it was easy. But then again that was probably back when apps were still called programmes, windows xp had service support and the internet was a much more simple place and not a form of constant annoyance. God I'm such a grandad.

Any free VPN is using your bandwidth for its own purposes.

You'd want to download the Android OpenVPN client (the client most windows based VPNs use) and plug your details into that. You should expect to pay for a VPN worth using but they are crazy cheap, talking ~5E a month - as others have said you don't want to be using a free one. Here's the best place to start looking: https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/

Don't use TOR unless you're only intending to use it for text based stuff. You can't stream or download with it anyway.

I use the app OpenVPN when connecting to a free wifi while out and about.

However as you are aware, you also need the VPN server to go with the app. Personally I, like others, do not use the free VPN's and prefer to pay an annual subscription to a VPN service.

If you want to go down the road of a paid for service, then I can highly recommend AirVPN. I've been using them for two years. I have only had to contact them a couple of years ago when setting up and they were always quick and polite during email correspondence.

I shall be renewing my subscription next month at 54 euro per year. That works out at roughly £3-90 per month for three devices connected to the VPN.

Would any of the great Techs on this forum be able to explain how I could get my router to connect to the VPN server rather than by connecting my computer?

That way, I think, all my devices would be able to use the VPN as one connection. Or is that wrong?

Its a Virgin Superhub 2
