I'd be interested in getting some idea of what various parts of Europe would have looked like many tens of thousands of years ago.

Does anyone know if the are any websites that do this sort of thing?

Thanks

This shows how glacial erosion alters a previously unglaciated environment. Not sure of that's what you're after?

Something like this: http://www.metatech.org/Images/europeiceage.gif

The demise of 'Doggerland': http://www.iceageinsights.org/environment/doggerland

This one compares palaeogeography in northern europe and US: https://www.uwgb.edu/dutchs/Research/What-If/WhatIf.HTM

Basically much of northern Europe was perennial ice sheets, the southern part of the UK mostly tundra and southern Europe probably cold arrid and with boreal forests, a bit like we have in the arctic areas now.

The pedant in me dislikes their colloquial use of 'ice age'!

The lochaber geopark has some diagrams for explaining the parallel roads in Glen Roy (worth a visit). You may be able to find these online somewhere.

Thanks for all the replies. Interesting. It's just that I sometimes look at a view when I'm out and try to visualize what it might have looked like before and during the last ice age.
