Basically much of northern Europe was perennial ice sheets, the southern part of the UK mostly tundra and southern Europe probably cold arrid and with boreal forests, a bit like we have in the arctic areas now.
Thanks for all the replies. Interesting. It's just that I sometimes look at a view when I'm out and try to visualize what it might have looked like before and during the last ice age.
