Is there not a standard (e.g. CE) specification for protection like there is with cycle helmets, so what you pay extra for is lightness, ventilation, style etc?
My head is 61cm and I fit in a Black Diamond Half Dome but I don't know if it'd stretch to 63. Probably worth going to a shop and trying them on once they're open again.

Why? Let's assume the OP isn't a complete dipstick, and picks only helmets that are CE marked from a reputable company, why spend more than you have to?
Same problem. I tried every helmet on the planet and only one fit that was comfortable...

The XL is meant for wearing over hats etc, but also works for big heads. Pity it doesn't come in my favourite yellow, just boring grey, but I'll take what I can get.
