I’ve fairly recently started using the Harrogate wall after a decent period of time off climbing. In my opinion it’s a really decent small wall with some good routes, a friendly atmosphere and usually cracking music. Staff are always really helpful. Membership (especially with kids added) is very reasonable.

Hope it doesn’t change too much, especially as it already takes me 35mins to get there despite being my closest wall. Good luck to all staff involved and to the new owners!

On their facebook post, they said they will be honouring all passes, bookings etc, aiming for as seamless a transition as possible.

Might be more to do with building rent going up, energy costs etc

It’s been bought by two ex employees who already run a successful Adventure experience  brand/company, live for today.  so there are multiple angles beyond the commercial ones, although no doubt that must’ve been a main driver. Good luck to all involved

Parthian are more focused on developing in the South, so Harrogate was likely bit of a burden on them, being so far away and hard to manage from down there. Probably makes a bit less money than a London gym too lol

Harrogate Wall seemed a bit sad last time I was there. I felt it needed a spring clean. Now I know why. Since Leeds Wall (Depot) reopened, a lot of the oldies from West Yorks started going there instead; nearer for them and it's a great wall.

I'm hoping the new owners will keep Harrogate going as a proper climbing gym, especially as it's my nearest. I've always thought the routes were good and pretty good value.
