For the winter season 2009/2010 Black Diamond lifts the evolution of the Cyborg, Serac, and Sabretooth crampons to new spheres —these renowned crampon models now feature stainless steel and a drastically enhanced geometry. This results in a clear and sophisticated design with various performance and durability advantages.
The new Black Diamond Sabretooth crampon is the most versatile crampon of premium quality for technical mountain ascents in snow, ice and mixed terrain. The distinctive construction of stainless steel includes a three-dimensional frame geometry which highly improves the stability of the 12-point-crampon. The front part of the frame is considerably slimmer and shorter in order to compensate for the use of narrower styled boots that are favored by many, these days. The points are 5 mm shorter, however the frontpoints are especially distinct to provide more grip. The heel lever has been changed to a slimmer and more durable design too. The Sabretooth weighs only 970 grams. In comparison to the previous model this means you save 210 grams per pair. The robust material makes the crampons resistant to abrasion, therefore the points stay sharp for a long time. Corrosion is no longer an issue and the smooth surface offers no contact surface for the accumulation of snow ("balling up").
The Sabretooth comes in a "Pro" version for use with mountaineering boots that have toe welts as well as a "Clip" version that uses a flexible toe strap for boots without a front toe welt. The one-size crampon fits shoe-sizes 36 – 46. ABS plates included.
Weight Per Pair : 968 g, 2 lb 2 oz (Clip)
