We take great pleasure in announcing a new dedicated bouldering centre currently under construction in West Bromwich. It's set to be by far the biggest bouldering facility in the West Midlands. We're hoping to open in the late Spring. Work has begun in turning a 9,000sqft warehouse into Boulder Central: a fun, vibrant and quality centre for you to enjoy, train, socialise or just get plain chalky.

Boulder Central will boast facilities such as:

Caves, arches and slabs with hundreds of challenging problems from V0-V10!

  • Competition wall
  • Campus boards, finger boards and a 40° training wall
  • Top out boulder
  • Kids climbing area with a top roping section
  • Café
  • Multi use training/fitness studio
  • Mezzanine
  • Shop

Setting top quality problems will be a high priority of ours and as such we will be benefitting from the experience of Ireland's 2011 Bouldering Champion – Jonny Argue and other top guest setters.

Boulder Central will be offering regular events such as master-classes, lectures, competitions and other community events.

Looks awesome. What is the wall area? Top out boulder looks like an interesting feature. Will be following progress

Hi guys To answer your questios: Smollett, the centre will roughly have 700msq of climbing wall surface. Hopefully the top out boulder will be a success. It's often a point overlooked by most climbing centres. We think it's an important feature which, if done well should add an extra element to indoor bouldering. ERU, boulder problems will not go above 4.5m and the majority will be 4m and below. There will be a top rope section for clubs and courses that will go as high as 9m. You may have noticed however, that the virtual tour showed the bouldering walls higher than 4.5m. This is that case in some places for structural reasons. Climbs will not go this high.
