We've just received the following message from Cold Mountain Kit in London:

"On Friday the 23rd of January our new shop at 44 Tower Bridge Road was burgled. Thieves have stolen all of our camming devices, locking carabiners, ice axes, a large amount of our work, rescue and rigging gear and more. We are still assessing the loss, but an early estimate puts it at over £25,000. Until we can log exactly what we do and don't still have we have closed the shop and suspended internet sales. We hope that we'll be able to resume normal trading soon, so please bear with us. If you live in the London area and see or hear about anyone trying to sell climbing equipment that is at all suspicious, please either get in touch with us or report it directly to the Police. We will update our site and also our social media with any developments.

We have had fantastic messages of support from many people which just goes to show what a great bunch the climbing community is.

Thanks Alex, Catherine, Megan, Jon

The Cold Mountain Kit team"

This is a huge blow for the independent, who had recently moved to the premises on Tower Road, London. In email correspondence earlier today shop owner Alex Palmer said that they were hoping to have their stock take finished this evening and - we very much hope - be back trading ASAP. If you see or hear of anything please get in touch.

For updates on the situation please visit the Cold Mountain Kit Facebook Page.

That's a real shame, I've been buying a lot of my kit from them lately so am very disappointed to hear this. I'll keep my eyes and ears open, and hope they get back on their feet soon.

Can't say I knew there was an alternative to the big 2 in London. Will be dropping by when I need some gear for sure.
