Bit of an epic for me this one! Fell off the first moves and decked! Fourtunately only my pride was hurt save a few bumps and bruises. Got back on it, made it to the crux and bottled it! Wouldn't commit on only one small wire. Had a rope lowered to me and finished on that. Not good!

Finally got the chance of doing it & really enjoyed it, a nice route to finish on, just as the sun was setting. Onsight-ish ( I led Peter's Progress earlier in the day). Didn't really find it any harder then it's neighbour. The gear is a bit fiddly low down. The block near the top (the one with the two jugs) feels solid to pull on but didn't like sound of it when I placed a nut under it. Ran it out from there to the top as I spent awhile faffing with gear on the block... After doing both routes I can't decide if they share the crux or not. Not that it matters as I enjoyed the climbing on both and just glad to have finally climbed them.

Really enjoyed this, it's obviously very steady at HVS but I wouldn't disagree if it was graded as either VS or HVS, has some awkward moves but all pretty well protected. Overrated though unfortunately, possibly because its a lot of peoples first HVS.

Maybe deserves HVS for the fact that the gear in the groove requires a fair bit of thought (I totally laced it with microwires though). Interestingly this bit is in common with the VS 4c next door. The moves above are great and much easier than the crux on The Chant which I did beforehand.

After doing Great crack we were determined to get one more route in before the circling rainstorms hit us! Unfortunately it wasn't to be. We flaked the ropes really quickly, racked up quick, tied in quick, got climbing quick. I was a bit wobbley, quite balancey lower moves, had to try a few different things with my feet before I got to the bottom of the crack, put in a number 3 wire just in the crack and heard my Dad say "Alan..." it was beginning to rain, big drops. I took the gear out, and proceeded to downclimb, but once I had my left hand on the weird fluting thing, I couldn't figure out how to reverse it as I had struggled with my feet going up I was pretty out of balance. I got my right foot down onto something but needed something for my right hand to pull my weight over. I shifted over my right foot but couldn't quite make it, started barn-dooring off, turned and jumped, only a couple of metres but rewoke a small injury that had been progressing more painfully. Bit sore the day after but no harm done and I was hurt before I did it. Wasn't a fall, just a jump! Ate muffins which someone kindly supplied and sheltered from the rain in the hollybush! Went for an ale at strines in afterwards.

I shouldn't have got on this really and I nearly didn't even log the failure... But I liked the way it looked, and so decided to give it a shot. Got to the flake, couldn't do the next move straight away and partner had to get home to pick his kids up so I downclimbed off again as there was no time to work it.
