Adders are frequently seen around Curbar. They are often very well camoflaged so it's worth keeping an eye out when moving into new areas, picking up kit etc as a bite, although not life threatening to most healthy adults can still be nasty.

Ticks are abundant due to a large population of red deer. take care, particularly if passing through bracken below the crag.

Rockfax Description
Gain the upper crack from the right (f5+ - tricky for the short). Leaning in from the arete on the right is a bit naughty. © Rockfax

βeta: Start definitely felt more like 5c. Good landing though, HVS.

βeta: I got the start easily but the top crack did for me! I think I spent too long sorting gear out and had to sit on it right at the top. Bummer!

βeta: kept falling off the bottom but eventually heaved myself up, up and over, totally pumped by the top. great hand jams in top crack and the final flop over is less then photogenic.

βeta: Yippee! and thank feck for that. My first clean "HVS" lead at Curbar. Bouldery start, then gentle jamming with bomber gear to the top.

βeta: The start is hard if you're short so maybe HVS, but protection comes thick and fast further up so the tension eases. Quite pumpy at the top if you're weak like me.
