Freebird*** VS 4c
['wings' area topo, 3 kb]35m, 2 pitches. The route is a variation of several climbs in the vicinity but what a route it produces! Start by belaying at a small tree on the ledge by 'Wings', a few metres left of 'Birdland'. Ascend the wall to a ledge and then traverse rightwards into 'Birdland' and up the steep crack. Then climb up and right to a block and belay shared with 'Wings' (belay). Move right and then up the wall beneath a small roof at the top of the crag. Climb into the alcove and then out onto the lip of the roof and up to finish by a sapling. Be sure to hang from the lip and 'cut loose' to get the full affect of the 90 feet of thin air below your feet, one of the best positions on the crag. The route takes a superb line featuring great climbing and encompassing some 'awesome' positions.

Led the first pitch, but got pumped seconding the roof. I got the top jugs and everything, just couldn't hold them for long or pull at all. Ended up having to be lowered off, but will get this one next time!

F.A. Climbed with Jake Hampshire. I lead the fist pitch and Jake lead the top (crux) pitch. I had intended to climb wings however the initial climbing looked uninteresting so i decided to carve my own way throught the rock. The belay in the middle is in a superb position with a superb view over to bilsdale, i could have sat there all day. Jake then set off on the second pitch and 'forgot' that wings stepped leaft under and there for escaping the over hang, and so went straight out over the roof. Asuperb pitch with the last move being very exposed in one of the best positions on the crag. (update: only worth one star)
