The final few cm of the pulled rope had flicked into a perfect fig-of-8 around itself beneath the maillon. Tremendous, delicate, bold climbing on P2 (love the photo by Jim Fogg - could have been my van in the layby).

Andy P1 and 3, Me P2 and 4. Pitch 2 is superb climbing, up a really exposed rib, on small holds, with less than perfect protection. One of the few routes dry on the day, loved every minute. Ab with a 2x50m rope gets you to the ground

excellent route. Ran pitch 1 & 2 together; the 'rib' (arete) is lovely, exposed and delicate. Brought up Jon and Tony, coffee on the ledge enjoying the sun. then lead pitches 3, 4 and half of pitch 5 (as described in old Paul williams 'beris Guide) together as one, up to oak. Jon then scrambled to top and we walked off. superb.
