UKC Logbook Description
Climb the steep slanting crack in the left wall of the slabby groove (knobbly!!) then where it ends step left into the continuation groove. Up this until Guts Ache can be joined. Note that the line for this route marked on the topo in Peak Limestone Rockfax is actually that of Chopping Block (E2)- follow the left hand crack then move left again (don't know why they got this wrong, it was marked ok in the Limestone South 1987 guide)

Bit of a hybrid, up the jam crack then ended up in the right hand adjacent VS, the Rockfax guide does complicate things!

A real sand bag at VS!

Pretty tough, esp the initial crack. New guide has it at HVS 5a, which is fair.

Batt 11/Aug/12 Lead O/S

Nails at VS! Half way up got told it was HVS in the new guide, that'll be why then. Even worse with grubby crux. Would be excellent if cleaner but still worth it.

Nice route apart from one muddy jamming crack! Awkward in places with high feet on little holds.

Alkis 26/Jun/11 Lead O/S

Never, ever, ever doing this in warm and humid conditions ever again. Ever! The jamming crack was green, slimy and wet, making the bottom section very awkward and strenuous. My hands and my gear were coming out black/green!

eduardo 26/Jun/11 2nd O/S

Sopping wet in the jamming crack! Really hard, probably more like HVS even if it was in condition.

Thought I climbed Guts Ache Groove, but it looks like this is the route I climbed. The top-out to the path was vegetated, muddy and horrendous. Worth taking a tat and abseil off a tree.
