Rockfax Description
A hidden gem which combines parts of Holloway and Crocodillo to make a long direct route. Save some gas for the top crack!
1) 4a, 20m. Climb the rib leading up to the steep front face of the pinnacle to a belay in a groove on a spike.
2) 5b, 30m. Go up right to the base of a steep wall. Move up and left aiming for a good but loose hold on the left arete. Follow the arete on its right wall until you can traverse across to the right edge just below the top of the pinnacle. Climb towards a niche and move left over steep ground on good holds to a sloping ledge. Move up a crack to another niche below a steep crack. Battle up the final steep crack to a belay in the trees.
2a) Holloway, HVS 5a - Go left up a diagonal crack. © Rockfax

βeta: Original Crocadillo may not be the best line but contains the excellent climbing up the groove which is E2 where good holds gear keep coming, all very 3D. The relatively easy top crack, individually would be HVS. Thought this was a fantastic pitch. Doing as described the first pitch would be worth E2 but the 2nd would be E1. Did all parts as abseiled down and did top pitch of Holloway which is excellent if a little lacking in direction. | βeta? | |
