A very hot day - 27.5 C in Ogwen! Took almost two hours to walk from the Ogwen Valley to the foot of the climb. 1 hour 15 minutes to do the route. Over 40 years since I last did this climb. It's still good!

Done on Dans B'day! Moved together, easy but enjoyable climbing, the crux wasnt difficult. Totaly agree with the difficulties being in pitch 1 & 2. 1 1/2 hours up. Oh and the walk in past the reservoir and disused quarries is flat but a good slog!

Great route but a long walk-in from the valley. Alternate leads and the bottom 2 pitches were awkward and more difficult (I felt) than the easy-ish 'crux' pitch. Great upper pitch including the pinnacles a 'tower gap' type obstacle. A good day out if done in good weather.

First ever major mountainering expedition and climb with Laurence (11) and Lena (9). We left car park with Kier, Bruno & Sian at 9.30am and arrived back 12hrs later (4 hrs after the others!) Key notes: 1) long hot walk in where we cooled off by wetting our tops in the stream near the old quarry buildings. We arrived at the foot of the buttress about 30-45 mins after the others who were still waiting to set off up the Craig. 2) First pitch was rel easy and required no real protection until belay stance. 3) We caught up the group who'd set off just before Kier and Co (who were nowhere to be seen!) and in order to keep moving swiftly we followed Kier up the far left edge of the buttress onto what was as hard as if not harder than the official crux- requiring a bold move up and onto a hanging slab - L&L coped admirably with the exposure! 4) the next couple of pitches don't stand out in my mind other than moving swiftly but carefully up to and through the scrambling section. 5)We caught the same group up again at the foot of the crux pitch which was a lovely climb with some added exposure to the right but no real trouble for Lena's shorter stride and not as polished as I had feared. 6) After the crux we confronted the Gendarme and Knife Edge - the former we dispatched by traversing to the left and then laurence did a great down climb onto the edge before carrying on down still further to his left off a tricky face - this proved to be Lena's crux but after great encouragement ('you can do it!) she did do it admirably! 7) We then moved off together up to the start of the final pitch where we had to sit out a 40 min wait in the cooling afternoon breeze (pity about wetting out tops earlier in the day) due to catching uop the same group again - however 'Vlad' lent Laurence his fleece jacket and Lena had a waterproof to keep some of the cold off - lots of rubbing of limbs too! 8) When we were finally on the move again I saw we could have circumvented the group this time by moving around to the right but both L&L coped well with the direct route and we moved on up to our final belay point (30m below the summit) in order to keep as close together as possible. 9) We finally summited at around 5.30pm into the early evening sunshine and relative warmth. Packing of gear and group photos - taken by the leader of the group we had 'chased' all the way - done with, we were then off on the long descent - the first hour or so was down the steep slope of the saddle to the south west of the summit (very slippery due to vegetation and heavy eroded in places)10) and so we made the long trail back to the car park - not at all sure of what to expect on our eventual return ~ but that's another story!!

Started in drizzly rain wet and slippy. Did the first two pitches then got to the bold step out couldn't reach to get protection in heavens opened bottled it and downclimbed and decided to abb off. Thanks to the climber that let us abb off his gear. Group in front of us also baled but much higher up. It's reconfirmed I don't like climbing in the rain. I'll be back to do this route on a dry day what we did do would be fantastic if dry.

A wild day that turned out quite well. Occasional showers on the way to the crag and then a torrential downpour while we were having lunch at the bottom. Three parties ahead of us, but two of them abseiled off because of conditions. I climed in walking boots, Luke in his mountaineering boots - pretty slippery but OK. An excellent mounteering expedition. The second pitch seemed the hardest in those conditions.

great day out today ,walked in from dolgarrog end ,a bit of a trek but easier than the ogwen probably..some good pitches and the pinacle traverse i thought was the best bit .a nice top out onto the carneddau with the best mountain in wales tryfan in the distance in all its splendour .definatly a climb worth doing ,but beware its a full on mountain day so prepare well .

Just fantastic fun, perfect weather and a great day out. Crux was fine but a little polished and we took a few odd lines that were harder than VDiff but it only added to the enjoyment. Took my rock boots off after the crux and didn't put them on again. Wandered to the top of Carnedd afterwards to cap off a great day in the hills!

Superb day, walked in from lynn Cowlyd reservoir past Rugby mountaineering club hut to foot of climb- hour and a half, only team on the route, led it throughout with a little bit of moving together on easy bits, magnificent mountaineering route must be fifteen years since i last did it, big sacks carried great shots on the pinnacle, walked on in great sunshine to top of Carnedd Llewelyn, them walked off in north easterly direction to pick up track running out from Melynllyn (very little water in it!) Top day, just short of three hours on the route includes basking time and piccys, nine hour day all told with walk in/walk out.

Brilliant climb, great pinnacles, still cold though even in June! Had trouble finding decent route at the top in darkness and thick fog so decided to stay the night and hiked down in the early hours via the gentlest gradient back to the car park.

I lead first pitch and the 'crux' pitch (the polished corner). Then I lead the moving together all the way from the path to the end. Not sure if we were on route exactly because the 2nd pitch (long slab) felt harder than VD and think was the crux.

Climbed as part of a group approach with four teams of three. Some more experienced than others. I had two under 18 Network Scouts members; we arrived after interesting walk in at 12:00 to wait for the queue. Started to climb as the third team with Sam and Shaun taking alternate belay. At the top of the second pitch, the stance was small and we waited for the second team to clear. Tracy the fourth team leader set up her belay above this. The rope management was “fun”. Once on the large ledge below the Crux wall time to grab a bite. I though the move around the corner was slightly more difficult than a “V Diff” more so for my partners. We eventually made our way above this and set a belay 15m above the top of this wall. When both of my climbers were up and safe, one of Tracy’s climbers was having a problem. I went back down to see what assistance we could give but an independent climber helped. Our climber finally made it safe to the top of the pitch and we thanked the climber for his help. He was not from this country; in spite of this, I am proud of this aspect of our sport where we help each other. I would like to say thank you to all climbers who give assistance even if it is just to say hello and improve your moral. The rest of the climb was on short rope moving together as I felt my fellow climbers were confident. The pinnacle and the final arête near the top gave some breathtaking exposure. The final pitch in near darkness had one difficult move to reach the top and the wind. Thanks go to Tracey and Dave who gave helpful commentary from the top when Sam and Shaun were unsighted which can happen a lot on this climb. Climbed with Sam Ash and Shaun

Done this route twice. First time I did it as an alpine route with A. Crook. Second time I did it solo. The hardest part I still think is the slab pitch with the traverse left to a crack. Takes less than 30min solo including guide book reading time. Think it took 2-3hours alpine style.

Great route, first five pitches were very interesting. Walk in took about 2 hours, slow goign due to bad visibility and rain. Loved the route as it was made wet and slippery by the consistent rain.

Left late, walked in via Cwm Eigiau, started climb at about 1pm as a 3 with 1 lead and 2 seconds, helicopter rescue of man above us on route halfway up, topped out around 6 just as it was starting to go dark, back at A5 at 7pm.

This took ages. We might have started up some random choss pile rather than the actual route. Steve led what we'll call pitches one and two. I struggled up in big boots - no fun at all. At one point we got lost and decided to climb out up some slab that looked ok. It wasn't - I was pulling on the rope like a total amateur. It was at least two grades harder than anything on the actual route. Anyway, after about 3 hours we found some polish (the first time I've ever been glad to see some!) and so the route. Steve led off while I belayed and changed into climbing shoes - much much better. A helicopter disrupted us, buzzing round and waving while I tried to shout 'climb when ready' to the out of sight Steve. Very helpful. I led 'the crux', but had a rest on a bit of gear - I was knackered and the mega polish was a bit worrying. The rest of the pitch wasn't that bad though. We were thoroughly photographed by some ramblers when we were at the top of the pinnacles and so I grabbed the lead on the last pitch to get to the top first to give autographs and recieve the praise, but they'd long gone (bah!). Nice route, more scrambling than I'd expected and not much sustained climbing. Well worth doing though - a good day out (including the walk in and out).
