Vipère au Pied*** 6b
[Vipere au Pied, Barberine, Chamonix, 3 kb]250m, 10 pitches. Great climb - the first route on the face. Short tricky first pitch, (which can be avoided by taking P1 of Mirrors...) then slabs, then steeper in second half. 12 quickdraws, 2x50m, 6a oblig.

Fantastic climb with the steeper upper pitches contrasting nicely with the technical slabs below.

So much Better than it looks from the bottom. Great slabs at the bottom and steep and tech at the top. Hard for the grade but well bolted.
Stuart Johnston - AltLd O/S - 07/Sep/14 with Misha Gopaul

The 6b pitch at the top was one of the best, if not the best, 6b pitch i have ever lead. Stupidly fell off at the last bolt before topping out.

Climbed first half of Meduse, but fell off its crux, so went back down to terrace and climbed this route from the 6a+ pitch with the blank rightwards traverse. Really enjoyable. Well-equipped.

Did this as a consolation after abandoning an attempt to get to some slabs on the Mer de Glace (no crampons). Very run out and thin slab pitches. Broke all of the rules - we were pulling on gear, standing in slings, anything to get up the thing. Still bold! Got as far as a 6a+ pitch with a strenuous overhang followed by a scary traverse rightwards. After constructing a hanging belay 1 handed, I was knackered (long day!). Luckily when Colin arrived at the belay he told me he was too tired to do any more, which was a good excuse to ab off!

Did the initial slabs clean on a line to the right hand of the route - maybe F6a? Lots of cheating going on by the eight pitch.

Left early and finished before the heat of the day would have roasted us!
