Got to the top of the second pitch which was really wet and very slippery and found a newish sling that someone had used to escape. Did the same as it looked like it still needs a good few days to dry.

What an utterly fantastic route! Was too far right for the first 4 pitches, once we found the terrace the route finding simplified and we were able to really enjoy the climbing which was fantastic!

Dry in more ways than one... Nice P2 and P7 made the route very worthwhile.

Led P2,4,5,7. I definitely got the better pitches, sorry Ross. Took a line on P1 slightly further right that the FRCC guidebook suggested to avoid all of the grass!!

Route was quite green is places and route finding was difficult at times, especially using the Topo from the Lake district "selective guide". Not a route to attempt if wet, since a few sections require traversing across grassy wet ledges. Final pitch is fantastic massive crack line which allows multiple no-handed rests. Make the adventure to find it worth while. Good route and nice positions. led P1,P3,P5

A superb route, a bit cold, but a glorious mountain day with fine views and positions. :) A masterpiece of ascent from Peascod and Beck in 1940 with Woolworth rubbers, two rope slings and a hemp rope!

Led pitches 2, 4, and 6. Bone dry. Plenty of good climbing but overall the route didn't live up to the hype for me. Pitch 7 was probably the most memorable but it was straight-forward. Start of P3 maybe the crux.

Led P2,3,5&7. 7 is boldish, but if you've gotten this far sufficiently protectable. Fantastic route, full of traditional values, i.e. exposure, inescapable feeling, thin belays. Top day out!

Led first and last pitches which are ungraded so can't really count as a lead. Found first belay point hard to find and seem to do first 3 pitches in 2 being unsure if we where in the right place. Last/ 2nd to last pitch was best by far but others pretty good too. Some parts finding gear was very hard especially at the start.

duncana 09/Jun/13 AltLd

Good varied climb. My second pitch lead was great, as was the penultimate crack that Pippa led (easier than the horror show it looks like). A couple of Pippa's leads had tricky moves straight off ledges without great protection, but still VS ish.

Is everybody else playing a joke? You will die if you attempt this route. The cruxes are all unprotected and the final crack pitch is a solo. Dry-ish when we climbed it, but not dry enough. Led P2, P4. Backed off P7 and graciously handed it to Liam. One of the few routes I wouldn't want to return to.

Got back from the Alps the day before, but forecast said the weather was about to break - just got this route in before the deluge. A great, great classic, reeking with history! Would point out, though, that this is quite a serious route in that two of the hardest moves are just above ledges with doubtful gear, so a fall could entail broken bits. But it's a route any VS leader would remember for a long long time.
