Riders on the storm*** HVS 5a
[Riders on the Storm HVS, 3 kb]

Rockfax Description
Brilliant! Great positions, some of the biggest (and sharpest) jugs known to man, but steep rock and not one for a timid second. From the belay ledge, step down and make a tricky pull up across onto the wall to gain the base of a flake. Continue traversing left, going up and down a bit, as far as a tricky move up past a big undercut. Trend up leftwards from here towards the finishing corner, finish up this, or belay on the ledge on the left if you need to watch your second. © ROCKFAX

UKC Logbook Description
A rising traverse of the lower tier of stennis head, the name was inspired by the weather on the first ascent and the tape in the car on the way to the crag!

Exciting even on a blue sky calm sea day! I used 2/3 small slings over blunt spikes as pro during the traverse. Belayed on ledge to watch my second. Ab'd in was about 20m from spike we used as per rockfax.
Robin Brooke - Lead - Sep/15 with Paula Ryan

Pryan - 2nd - Sep/15 with Robin Brooke

Omg!! What a way to finish a cracking weekend in Pembrokeshire. Good effort on the lead Chris. A committing first move on crimps to gain the wall then exciting jug pulling interspersed with good rests. Used different beta to Chris on the Crux finding an adequate crimp up and right instead of matching on the undercut, several more steep and exciting moves without much rest before reaching the corner. One final bit of excitement moving left around a buldge and then easy climbing from there to the top. What a route.
SuperLee1985 - 2nd O/S - 31/Aug/15 with chris knight

What a climb. It definitely lived up to its hype. The route looks quite intimidating when viewed from the belay ledge, but the holds are all there! I would say this is up there with my best leads to date. Apologies for Lee's beta-spray below, he gets rather excited.
knighty - Lead O/S - 31/Aug/15 with Lee Cammann

What an amazing route. The best hvs I have done so far. It looks like there's no chance that grade can go through there. Jugs. Underclings. Crimps. Pockets. the lot. 3***s and brilliant

Kris2fa - Lead O/S - 11/Apr/15 with Adam24B

Brilliant climbing on huge holds. Accessing the low rail of jugs feels committing but not too hard. I made it just past the big (wet) undercut hold when my knee made a loud crunching noise. Exactly the same happened last year on Suicide Wall in Bosigran so looks like another cartilage tear that will require surgery. I couldn't straighten my leg so I made myself safe on a hanging belay. We contemplated ringing the coastguard but thought we could sort ourselves out. Moritz did a great job of rescuing me and then retrieving most of the gear. There are a few piece still left in the traverse so if anyone does the climb in the next few days and could pick it up that would be great!

The exposure and extreme nature of this route i think entitle it the grade E1. Down climbing a severe to even get to the start above the crashing sea. The fact that the route is just as imposing on second as for the leader, and some averagely hard moves all make this an incredible adventure. Amazing climb, not advisable for inexperienced HVS leaders/climbers

Amazing. Best route ever. Scary move to the first jug, you wouldn't want to fall off. Bomber threads, nuts and lots of drag. The middle crux was pretty wet - very exciting! John felt like it was E1 to second. Did feel hard for HVS.

Awesome route, wish it was longer. Doesn't look like HVS from the belay ledge but once you get on it, plenty of holds and gear placements appear and the line is pretty obvious - reminded me of Debauchery at High Tor. Must be very exciting at high tide.

Fell off the crux move (undercut). Highly recommend having 2x prussics and slings to be able to get out, as the rock below is overhanging :) Alternatively, it is possible to traverse right using hidden undercuts and get back onto the route (pre-crux!). Fantastic gear placement from Mike!
