A delightful (ha) excursion that tackles, briefly, the short slab / roof right of Salome, skipping out left as you start to bang your head to a balancy move onto the wall, then fire up the diagonal crack-line to the top.

At this grade you probably want to slope off leftwards early. As described with a high traverse left under the upper roof the climb deserves HVS 5a. Watch out for loose rock on the upper wall if you finish up and right.

Did it at night with a headtorch. Freezing conditions meant both of our hands ended up numb so gripping the rock was dubious at best, and due to it being dark and the limited use the headtorch gave when looking down, p

Second lead, on first day outdoor climbing. Really good fun, a few tricky moves to make, but compared to some other routes nearby it wasn't too badly polished.

Felt harder than the grade to get out from under the roof ... was tempted at one point to 'escape' up the E2 instead!

Had to take the line slightly to the left of where the guidebook pointed, since there didn't seem to be anything to hold onto there. Felt about right for the grade after that. Nice stance at top. Good quality rock, not too polished, although some vegetation and soil in places.

Harder than it looked, with a slightly unpleasant and slightly run out crux. Quite glad I was seconding. Lovely stance on top though.
