P2,4,6 Done in 7 pitches in a long day from Glasgow. Nobody else on the route. First three pitches awesome fun. Final three pitches of unprotected snowplodding took longer than the technical stuff. Bypassing cornice was interesting - Lawrie reckoned V,3 for that pitch! Fat, easy nick with hooks and steps everywhere, but still steep - lower end tech 5? Definitely V overall.

OMG as the cool kids say!! What a day and what a route!! A midnight start from the house saw us walking in at 3:30am to be at the bottom of the route at 6:45. First on and the weather was shaping up well. then a soloist rocked up beside us and was nick bullock!! Anyway,climb was stunning. 2nd pitch was the crux on the day but nothing on any of them to be underestimated! AWESOME!!

Lost in the mist thought we were going for an easy saunter up Gardyloo Gully and we ended up on this extremely vertical challenge! Did two and a half pitches but with another hard pitch in front and the clock coming up to 5:00 prudence prevailed and we abseiled down. Next time!

Amazing conditions, with barely any wind and clear skies almost all day made this a very memorable climb! Ice wasn't great for screws but axe placements were bommer all the way up. Had to climb over the cornice which was a little scary but it was rock solid on top so fine to pull over. Brilliant route, I had forgotten what a tedious slog the final pitches to the top are though!

Ace! Virgin ice and absolutely perfect conditions, we were very lucky. Took the harder left hand finish, which was also amazing. Spindrift was extremely intense to the point of comedy although I got off lightly as it subsided somewhat by the rogue pitch. Fantastic day.

Completely stepped out. Only very short hard sections and could have done them without axes and crampons! Excellent effort from Su, no problems on only her 5th winter route and did most of 1st pitch unroped. Lead p2 , mostly snow ice, great for placements but poor for gear but not required with number of pegs and state of route. Much spindrift - where did the route go? Split 4 pitches of grade 2 to finish. Topped out at 6, poor visibility and going dark so took the tourist path back to Ft W. Long day, back at 22.20 - 16 hours.

A bit underwhelmed really - it's a good route but wouldn't say it's an all-time classic, though to be fair it would have been much better and harder if it hadn't been so stepped out. Could largely find own axe placements but hard to avoid the buckets for the feet! Left car park at 6.30, started climbing shortly after 10, topped out shortly after 6. Effectively soloed P1 (we all started soloing, then Su thought better of it, so Phil brought her up to a screw belay half way up the pitch while I carried on to the first proper belay and brought them both up), then led the rogue pitch (lucky to finish it before the spindrift river started pouring down, Phil and Su go plastered) and the second and last of the four easy finishing pitches. Very poor viz on the summit but not too hard to follow footprints, carns and compass down to the zigzags. A memorable 16 hour day (and birthday for Su), probably my longest ever day out. This was on Monday - the rest of the week was a write off due to heavy snow and strong winds so headed back on Wednesday.

Led P1, taking the shallower left hand side. Mark took P2, tight chimney was pretty steep. Led P3 which was only steep for a move or two. Ice was well stepped out which lowered the grade quite a bit. In the upper we pitched it and moved together as required. Good route, certainly not intimidating as it's reputation (in my head at least) suggests.

Truly awesome! I've been waiting a while to do Point Five, and was worried it had been over-hyped, pleased to find this wasn't the case. Suprisingly easy climbing in current state, I'd say it is V,4 at the moment, moves on Taxus (Icicle Finish IV,4) were harder last weekend. The Rogue pitch wasn't very rogue, the crux seemed to be a short bulge on P1, protectable and easy to blast through. Very straight forward climbing overall due to nice snow ice, lack of water ice means pro is sparse though. Couple of pieces per pitch on average. No belays on the last 150m, but happily moved togeather, cornice sufficiently hacked! Started at 0800, topped out at 1200 above a cloud inversion, absolutely stunning.

Led P1,3,5,7. Brilliant snow ice. Great axe placements. Not so great for screws. Top of P1 was really steep and probably the crux today. Chimney was fairly steep and good fun. Rogue pitch was over pretty quickly. P4 had some nice ice. P7 was the final pitch over cornice. Great day. Fully lived up to expectations. Topped out in the light for a change but about 10m visibility. Descended No 4

after hearing it was in nick from some Belgium's that had climbed it a few days prior we thought we might be able to get an early season assent. we climbed the first pitch which was mostly ok. then the second pitch was unprotectable. it was probably possible to climb it but there was no ice just crud. didn't fancy it anyhow so retreated after the first pitch.

Lots of unconsolidated snow, and not much solid ice, so screw placements dubious. Insane amounts of rime made finding rock gear hard. Lead pitches 1 and 3, and basically rope soloed pitches 4 to 8, finding only 2 pieces of solid gear on the whole section.

Fantastic, really great day! The route was well travelled which made it easier but found it steady enough. Staying in the CIC hut made the approach easier. First grade V for us both.P1 Masa, P2 me, P3+4 masa as one, P5+6 me, move together to summit. Superb climb, although spindrift avalanches were terrible and occurred with monotonous regularity near rogue pitch. Belays all good. Ice a bit chossy in places, esp crux but all in all a good day out, and a cold one at that!

First Scottish grade V for both of us. The condition was good, if a bit snowy, while the weather was poor with loads of spindrift avalanches. When it was culminated I was leading The Rogue Pitch... I could not see well either with or without goggles, so decided not to bother placing screws but blasted through the crux several metres, and so did I. The temperature being about freezing, as well as continuous snow fall (and rain in low-down), every single gear was terribly iced up to the extent I had never experienced before. Memorable experience!

Led the first 2 technical pitches in 1. Snow covered the ice. It was a bit soft. Ice axes cutting through the snow at times. Quite scary. The ice underneath was a bit more solid. Joe got avalanced on near the top from a collapsed cornice. Good job an old peg held and he was on easier ground. Robin lost his old hammer and waterproof trousers ripped. Nice view from the top of the Ben though.

Was supposed to be part one of the trilogy of Point 5, Centurion and Tower Ridge but weather let us down. This part went fine - beat all the crowds racing to get to the start at 6am and climbed the route on lovely ice in two hours. Summit was eerily quiet at 8.30am! Then rain arrived....

Melting, lots of water running down the bottom three pitches. Led to the first 1 and a half pitches. Had to go directly up the first bulge as the left hand bit wasn't formed well. Awesome route! First tie ive climbed leashless on ice used a pair of fly's with a finger loop on and fortunately didn't drop them.

First grade V lead for both, First 3 pitches were superb on great water ice, thought rouge pitch was easist of the 3. Upper gully carrying some loose snow but firm undernead, good ice screws to be had if excavated. 7hrs on route, departing CIC at 7am, climbing 8.30am, topped out 3.30pm

seconded with old curved axes! Melting but also verglas. poor belays at top of first 2 pitches. Very scarey. 2 pitch extremely steep. 3rd pitch bridging chimney. 4th pitch (supposedly the crux) actually much easier and had nut belay thank christ! moved together to top. Wolfgang could have soloed the lot.......
