Good conditions. Ice was bad for screws but axe placements were very good. Quite run out, belays were not great either. Very good route though, atmospheric and long, 6-7 hours. Started late and got back to the car really late.

An excellent route, and my first winter climb with a 'big mountain' feel! Conditions were good - great ice for tools and crampons for the most part, but not so great for screws :s I led a short pitch at the start, then the traverse and subsequent steep section, then two of the four easy pitches up to the top. (Really we should have soloed these - easy ground and no real pro or belays.)

Spindrift avalanches all the way up the first pitch. Few decent runners. A bit soft and a few days proper freeze would firm it up a bit more but still an excellent route.

Last climbed with Steve 26 years ago (almost to the day). Turned out to be a superb day in the end. Steve still going well even though he is 54 and 7 years older than me! he led the two hardest pitches, me not having done anything as serious as this for over 20 years!

Good ice for three pitches then snow for the rest, occasional steps. Ate lots of spindrift. The ice on the crux move (from lower ramp to upper ramp) was hacked out but enough remained to work with. A nearby climber's (Tim) advice kept me on route.
